Noland hitches a ride on a FedEx flight across the Pacific, which is blownoff course before crashing after an onboard explosion. That seems like twocatastrophes when one would have done, but director Bob Zemeckis uses the stormfor scenes of in-flight fear, wisely following Alfred Hitchcock's observationthat from a suspense point of view, an explosion is over before you get yourmoney's worth.

I find it fascinating when a movie just watches somebodydoing something. Actual work is more interesting than most plots. Chuck splitscoconuts, traps fish, builds fires, and makes use of the contents of severalFedEx boxes that washed up with him (too bad nobody was mailing K-rations). Andhe paints a face on a volleyball and names it Wilson--a device which, notincidentally, gives him an excuse for talking out loud.
Hanks proves here again what an effective actor he is, never straining foran effect, always persuasive even in this unlikely situation, winning oursympathy with his eyes and his body language when there's no one else on thescreen.
I liked every scene on the island and wanted more of them. There's a lovelymoment when he squats on the ground, contemplating a crate that has washed up,and the shot is composed as homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey, Hanks' favoritefilm. I also liked the details of his escape.

"I just finished watching the movie " The Trueman Show",acted by Jim Carrey.
'What a movie!' , I couldn't help saying that when finshed that movie.
It talks about a show created by a director. He selected a baby and put himinto a world he had created for him. In that world, everything was nice, peoplewere friendly though they were all actors and actresses ,which means they wereall fake. The boy was named' Trueman'. Since Trueman was born, he was left inthat artifical island. Then people in the real world watched this 'Trueman Show'everyday. The director designed everything for trueman, his school, his friends,his fake parents, his fake wife...everything. He wanted to creat a person andworld without worries but he was wrong. Trueman one day sensed the weird aroundhim: everyday at the same time same place happened the same thing, people spokethe same thing with the same expression, no way!
He tried to run away but failed. Troubles seemed to be his twin brotherswhenever he intended to escape from the island. Accidents, fires, trafficjams...Finally , he managed to escape from the cam and got a boat. Despite theseasick, he got on the boat and went on sailing. The director paniced while theyfound trueman was away. He set storms intending to stop Trueman but failed.Trueman was determined to have a true life. He kept sailing and sailing.
